  1. CXR P/A view showing –

  • Increased translucency with collapse lung margin on the right side
  • There is a horizontal fluid level with obliteration of right costophrenic and cardiophrenic angles
  1. Right sided hydropneumothorax

  2. Causes-

  • Iatrogenic (during aspiration of pleural fluid)
  • Bronchopleural fistula
  • Trauma (penetrating injury, thoracic surgery)
  • Erosion of bronchial carcinoma
  • Pulmonary tuberculosis
  • Rupture of lung abscess
  • Oesophageal rupture
  1. Treatment-

  • Introduction of ICT tube with water seal drainage
